He had his first acting experience in first grade, when he played the Brown Bear in a classroom play. A winter coat turned inside out to look like brown fur. Ears made of brown construction paper, safety pinned to his hood. Lines memorized, blocking mastered, adrenaline surging through his veins waiting for his cue line. He hears it and growls with all his might. He crawled out of his paper cave. Thrashing his head, teeth beaming and tonsils in full view, he stood on his hind quarters and pawed at the air. "RRRAAAAAWWWWRRR," the Brown Bear says. The classroom giggles. And from the mouth of a paper cave, an actor was born. After that debut, Jesse went on hiatus from entertainment until after high school, when he received several grants and scholarships for co-ed cheerleading at Eastern Wyoming College and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Jesse left college to pursue a long-awaited career in acting. He spent time in Atlanta, Georgia studying his craft and found work in independent films, small television roles and sketch comedy acts. In 2003, he moved to Los Angeles in hope of advancing his career. In the year 2005 alone, he booked and shot nine national commercials, worked on several independent films, and can be seen on television in F/X's The Shield (2006), Teen Nick's Unfabulous (2005), and HBO's Walkout (2006), directed by Edward James Olmos, which is due out in March, 2006. Jesse also has the lead in a feature film called Quiceneara (2005), which won the Audience Award and Grand Jury Prize at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. Quinceanera was also an official selection for the Berlin Film Festival 2006. hide |
