Biography: A 1984 diary entry by Alan Bennett (scriptwriter of "Private Function, A (1984)") mentions Carter amusing himself on the set between takes by doing conjuring tricks. In the finished film he performs a magic trick as Inspector Noble, and in "Shakespeare in Love (1998)" can be seen juggling.
