Great Norwegian character actor, scenic designer, director and manager. As member of a family with many famous actors, Harald/Hans/Guri Stormoen among others, his way to the stage was maybe natural. He started as scenic designer at Trøndelag Theater in 1945, and from 1951 to 1952 he was an actor and manager at Rogaland Theater in Stavanger. From 1953 to 1985 he worked in Bergen, Oslo and Trondheim, at Trøndelag Theater he was manager from 1973 to 1979, also film and television work. He played many stage parts, including: Oberon and Tranio, (Shakespeare) Solomon, (Miller) Phil Hogan, (O'Neill) also many parts in the comedies of Ludvig Holberg, revealing himself as an accomplished comic. His films include many good performances; at his best in: "Kimen" 1974, "Streik" 1975, "The Masterbuilder" 1981, (TV) "Familjen" 2002, (TV). He won an Amanda award for his role as Pa in the film "Eggs" from 1995. Stormoen still works with theater in his old age as an active pensioner, in 2006 with work connected to the Henrik Ibsen event. Haakon Haakonsen didn't want to go to sea so young, but when his father, a Norwegian sailor, comes home with a badly wounded foot in the 1850s, the Haakonsen family finances require him to enlist as ship boy aboard a British ship under Royal Navy authority. After some hazing he buckles up to learn the hard work and gets accepted by the rough crew. Then Royal Navy lieutenant John Merrick is welcomed to take charge of security on a long voyage to Sidney and Calcutta, trough pirates-infested waters, but Haakon mistrusts him after finding he packed concealed weapons; indeed Merrick secretly poisons the captain. Haakon and his guardian angel, dad's best mate Jens, were about to feel the claw of the cat for helping a stowaway when a rock wrecks the ship.
