During WWII she played the main parts in several propaganda movies for the Nazis with her husband Veit Harlan as director. The worst of them was Jud Süss, a strong anti-semitistic movie from 1940. Kristina Söderbaum said after the war that she regretted the films, but she was never to come back to any great movies with the leading parts. She was a professor's daughter from Djursholm, Stockholm, Sweden. Three years after Jud Süss she became an honoury student at Uppsala University, Sweden. After Harlan's death in the 1960s, she established as a fashion photographer in München, Germany (Munich) and wrote her memoars, "Nicht bleibt immer so", in 1983.
