In this speculative one-man drama, we see former President Richard Milhous Nixon alone in his study, dictating his thoughts into a tape recorder. His only company are a four-screen closed-circuit TV setup, the portraits on the walls, a bottle of Chivas Regal - and a loaded pistol. At times addressing an imaginary judge in a court of public opinion, at other times speaking to an aide named Roberto, and sometimes just talking to himself, the former chief executive reflects, in a series of meandering monologues, on his humble Quaker upbringing, his school days, his family and a political career that reached all the way to the White House. La CBS, proprietaria del network televisivo, decide all'ultimo momento di non trasmettere l'intervista, per timore di eventuali azioni legali da parte delle industrie del tabacco. Ma Bergman non si arrende e torna alla carica sulla carta stampata. Il caso finisce al Congresso americano che, nell'autunno del 1999, ratifica un accordo col quale i produttori di sigarette dovranno indennizzare gli stati che hanno fatto loro causa con la cifra di 246 miliardi di dollari. A small group of Catholics led by an ailing priest believe that Satan intends to become man, just as God did in the person of Jesus. Colonel Terry Childers is a 30 year career Marine. When he is ordered to go the American Embassy in Yemen, when it's learned that things there are starting to unravel.
